"Roots"

This piece was inspired by my love and respect for Black pride and the courage behind it. It was also around the time I started playing around with textures in my work. The tree in the painting represents life—its roots, growth, and everything in between. I always like to say, "You can’t change where you come from, but you can choose who you want to be."
